Welcome to my world.

40 years ago I went to beauty school—I’m still behind the chair and loving it!

Hair was not my first love. Photography was where I discovered my creative side. I often point out that those vocations go pretty well together

Let Them be Little...

Let Them be Little...

This session took place in Excelsior, MN on Lake Minnetonka, under a giant tree that has, sadly, since been removed. Olivia’s original session was interrupted by what was later diagnosed as a double ear infection…poor honey. So, we gathered again on another perfect morning with all smiles and let her shine!

...Sometimes even the outtakes (in those moments) make it into my ‘favorites’ pile!

Photographing children takes timing, energy, focus and of course, patience. That said, for this new family, the 2nd was the charm! This heart melting sweet thing seemed a breeze to capture as I let Olivia be Olivia and kept circling her as mom & dad engaged her.

Trying to ‘muscle’ a photo session never works. Let the little ones take a break, grab a snack, run around, nurse, change a diaper…whatever they need. I would rather pad my time than reschedule; families with small children often have busier schedules than even me! Stay calm and never allow a parent to ‘apologize’ for their child’s need or behavior. I’ll add that sometimes even the outtakes (in those moments) make it into my ‘favorites’ pile!

Bottom line, go ahead and scour Pinterest for ideas but don’t let it be the guiding light for your little’s session. Besides, perhaps folks might just pin some of your images!

Relax…let them be little….
