Welcome to my world.

40 years ago I went to beauty school—I’m still behind the chair and loving it!

Hair was not my first love. Photography was where I discovered my creative side. I often point out that those vocations go pretty well together

"I'll Just Color it Myself..."

Lets face it, we all lost our damn minds during Covid!

As for me and my colleagues, we also endured a 10 week shut down followed by some reduced hours with lessened capacities. When we reopened, clients were clammering to get in! If you didn’t have a pre-pandemic appointment you got placed on a cancellation list or had to make a future appointment. It was so hard on us, as people pleasers, to push appointments out and not be able to work them in due to ‘shift-sharing’ and other constraints.

This lead to folks taking things into their own hands…literally! Turning to the internet and to Target to search for the perfect match…in a box. “This beautiful blonde color will do the trick!” 10 Bucks and 30 minutes later: Brass Band.

She was new to me and the salon, arranged for a ride, donned a mask and made her way to me…names were changed to protect the innocent :)
This is her story:

She sits in my chair and begins to share her hair-story. “I used Nice and Easy… it was easy, it wasn’t very nice“. We both laughed! She then went on to say “I also don’t have my hearing aids in today.” And to that I said “We’ll get along just fine… I didn’t wear mine today either! “She said “Really?!” I responded “Yes, really!”

An important part of my job is to see the need. Certainly regarding the hair but also with putting people at ease and relating to them. My booth is a judge-free zone!

“Cindy’s” end goal is to have her hair look like mine. On Saturday we began the safe journey of ridding her of most of the brass (obtained by applying box blonde on level six hair). I began with a 2-color, mid-head foil of lightener and some of her natural color. I then painted out the nape area with straight 7-1! Conditioning at each step. This was indeed a spendy visit for her and took 2 1/2 hours but with most of the brassiness gone we will be able to do some top head foils in the future as we want to continue to incorporate her OWN color and get the maintenance under control saving her time and money going forward! 🤩

Color Corrections always require a face-to-face consultation. No exceptions. During which, we discuss: Hair color history, desired outcome vs reality, time, cost and maintenance. From there we can then book the appointment.

Often times, color consultations are free.

Notable is this would also be the same action required in the case that you are looking to change your color.

(Below is an after from “Cindy’s” 2nd visit…feeling & looking more “Herself”!)
